I am surprised to discover that you use game voice comms instead external comms systems.
I am very curious to learn more about your experience.
We disregarded that because lag long ago and we have been using TeamSpeak more than one year.
I have just discovered that Game voice does not work when using Sockets.
I would appreciate your imput about this since we would be interesting on that option if no lag is added to game.

We have had a directplay server from the beginning and experienced no lag with it. We are not very thrilled to use some third party software for voice usage, because dead soldiers can use it without detection. This of course gives an unfair disadvantage as the dead should be dead. OFP allows only general discussion after the player is killed, so no "cheating" is possible.

I agree on that. However rest assured SWAF will not cheat.
We like realism on game and we do hate cheaters.
I'd rather loose a game while fighting honourable that wining it through cheap tricks.
When SWAF was born, we all used the game voice coms but I am sure your remeber how unstable and laggy the game was then not allowing more than 8 people at the time and chrashing most of the time voice coms were used.
We discontinued use of that voice system since then.
Now after hearing about your experience, I would like to learn more about that.
So with 20+ players lag is not significative when talking?
How do you turn your server from sockets to directplay?

try find the ofp dedicated server software path or the FlashpointServer.exe and meka a shortcut from it and then put the -config=server.cfg -dplay command to the shortcut. Like C:\Program Files\OperationFlashpoint\Flashpointserver.exe -config=server.cfg -dplay

Just make a desktop shortcut to the ofpserver.exe and add -dplay right after the shortcut's target path.
