Meeting at Koli
09.06.2025
Members of the detachment have marched together numerous times in the South Carelian Military March. In addition, individual members have participated in the RESUL Four Day March. This year, the detachment organized a dedicated meeting with the goal of taking part in the RESUL Four Day March together. As such, it was the first meeting of its kind. The gathering took place in Koli National Park.

Five daring marchers took part in the event: yliv Haba, kers Kuokkanen, kers Sakinz, alik Arto, and alik Pionjaer.

On the way to Koli, a pleasant surprise awaited: the Törni–Männistö weapons cache museum site. The cache was revealed as late as 1993 by its guardian.

Additional highlights of the march included a wading site, the Devil's church, panoramic views from the peaks of Mäkrä and Ukko-Koli, the long shallow beaches near our lodging, and signs of modern culture atop Koli in the form of a restaurant.

The total distance covered over the four-day march was approximately 55 kilometers.

The concept of this meeting was well received — LDDK shall march again!

South Carelian Military March
11.05.2025
The annual South Carelian Military March took place from 25 to 26 April . As usual, LDD Kyllikki participated in the event. This year, the team was composed of ylik Haba, kers Kuokkanen, and korpr Beat.

The march began with two shooting assignments – one with a pistol and the other with rifles. Following the shooting, LDD Kyllikki’s mission was to breach enemy lines and conduct reconnaissance on a base located behind them. The enemy perimeter was patrolled by vehicles, infantry units, and drones. Despite the challenges, LDD Kyllikki successfully infiltrated the area and completed the reconnaissance task.

After covering more than 50 kilometres across varied terrain, the team faced another recon assignment. Following some tense moments, they completed the mission undetected. The final leg of the march involved a hike to the finish line.

Upon returning to base, participants were greeted with hot food and a sauna – even though only cold showers were available. LDD Kyllikki finished in the 14th place out of 24 teams, a slight drop from last year’s 4th-place result.

Preparations and equipment upgrades for next year are already underway. There have even been serious discussions about attempting to run the entire course.

Altland has joined the ranks of LDDK.

Welcome!
A New Platoon Structure
09.01.2025
LDDK has reorganised its combat force to improve its capabilities and offer members new challenges.

The new fast and manoeuvrable light infantry platoon has a dedicated heavy weapons team capable of supporting the jaegers with 81mm mortars, anti-tank missiles, automatic grenade launchers, or heavy machine gun fire, depending on mission requirements. The two jaeger squads have identical composition and armament, giving a tactical advantage, while both have enough men and weaponry for also independent action.

The platoon uses light utility vehicles and trucks for transportation, although each element has skilled personnel for also piloting aircraft, should the need arise. In addition, the platoon has a drone for the purposes of reconnaissance and forward observation, often operated by the XO.

The new platoon will have its baptism by fire on 12 January.

Happy New Year 2025
01.01.2025
The year 2024 was one of the most active in the detachment’s history, with exceptionally high participation rates in the weekly games. Expectations for the year 2025 are just as high.

If you thrive on extended hours and modest compensation, consider joining. Rest assured, the chances of encountering any life-threatening risks or permanent injuries are minimal.
